YouTube Movies to become Netflix? [The Reel Web #34]YouTube's recent deal with Paramount means that hundreds of new movies will be coming to the site, but for what purpose? Is YouTube thinking about switching to a Netflix subscription model? There doesn't seem to be any other competitive edge YouTube has for movies over iTunes, Amazon, or Netflix right now. The irony is that YouTube and Paramount's parent company, Viacom, are in a long law suit against each other right now.
YouTube is also now converting all new 1080p videos to 3D, although it seems like it's the old-school red and blue glasses 3D. It doesn't appear that 3D video will work very well on my active 3D TV set.
We also look at what we can learn from how Invisible Children is responding to the criticism and questions they're recieving and some of Google's near-future plans for Google Hangouts. If ReelSEO did a LIVE show, what do you think it should look like? We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas on this!
