Hi everyone I"m Andrea Rene and you're watching Clevver Games, your source for gaming news on YouTube. There has been some controversy over Netflix's decision to split their home DVD rental service from their digital streaming subscriptions. And now it is becoming clear why the giant company decided to make the switch.
Netflix has announced the new spin-off copmany Qwikster. This branch will be the new home of hard disc DVD rentals. Qwikster will also be offering video game rentals. Customers will be able to upgrade their subscription to include game rentals for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii.
The charge will be similar to what Netflix charges to upgrade to Blu-ray but exact pricing has not been confirmed. More details will be available on the Qwikster website one if launches in the next few weeks. The site will be almost identical to what customers are used to with the Netflix site, just rebranded.
If you stuck around after the huge price jump this summer the roll-over to Qwikster should be pretty seamless. And perhaps the announcement of adding video games could lure you back to having a subscription. What do you guys think? Did you drop your subscription after the price hike? Do you like the digital only option? Would you pay extra to rent video games? Let me know in a comment below.
